The three polders of Flevoland together form the largest piece of ‘man made’ land in the world. The area is completely designed and man made, four meters below sea level. This also makes the area different than other regions. For example, there is an ice rink of artificial ice (Flevonice) that stretches over 3 kilometers. Flevonice is a sports & fun park in Biddinghuizen. There is also a National Park in Flevoland: Nieuw Land. In addition, because of its architecture and polder cities, some consider the region to be one of the more ‘’modern’’ areas in the Netherlands.
