This online teambuilding game is all about collaboration, working together and acting socially responsible. This game is suitable for those who have been working from home for a little while and offers an ideal solution for getting some exercise in. The idea is to leave your desk and head outside. Once outside you can keep in touch with your colleagues and in the meantime clean up some litter left on the ground. This is the ‘walk together – litter event’!

How does this challenge work?

Determine the number of teams in advance. Each team can consist out of eight individuals. Establish the mean of communication (MS Teams or ZOOM). All participants will be linked to each other through the unique application. After an online plenary introduction and explanation of the game, the challenge can start. Team members can discuss a strategy, grab a garbage bag and will head outside (all individuals in their own neighbourhood). The application on everyone’s smart phone works with a GPS-system and tracks steps. A certain amount of steps need to be completed before a new challenge will appear. The challenges are questions, photo challenges, puzzles and riddles; all around the theme CSR. Fulfil the challenges together with the team. Which team will score the highest?

Litter bonus points

There is estimated that the Netherlands produces around 50 million to 300 million kilos of litter each year. Cleaning up litter, as part of this teambuilding activity, is free of obligation but it would be a lovely gesture towards your neighbourhood. While walking and getting in the steps needed for the next challenge to appear, each team member could pick up some litter from the street. Take a picture of the amount of litter you have collected and receive extra bonus points!

About the application

The app lists all the challenges and the goal of this game is to fulfil as many (or all) within a given period of time.

It is possible to play this game individually or with family and friends. Connect through MS Teams or Zoom, start the challenge at the same time and try to fulfil all challenges as soon as possible. Who scores the most points or collects the biggest amount of litter?

The online creative game is available in English and Dutch.

Planning in advance (at least four weeks upfront):

Determine date and time, number of participants and number of teams to be created. Would you like to play the challenge in English or Dutch?

Add the hosts from Duurzaambedrijfsuitje to the MS Teams or Zoom meeting (this is initiated by the party booking the outing for privacy reasons).

Create breakout rooms for each team. Normally, each team consists out of eight individuals.

Play the game within one or two hours. This duration is flexible and can include breaks.

We will round-up with an announcement on the team who scored the most points.

During the quiz day:

Every participant will download the game (application) on their smartphone.

The teams have already been created so each participant knows to which team they belong. Grab your gloves and garbage bags. Determine your strategy, head outside and get in those steps while picking up litter!

The teams are connected continuously through the application; a chat function is possible. Chatting with the other teams is also amongst the possibilities. A live score is visible at all times – which team will win?
